Prof. Atta ur Rehman Khan's Biography

Prof. Atta Ur Rehman Khan is currently affiliated with the College of Engineering and Information Technology at Ajman University, UAE. He holds a Ph.D. in Mobile Cloud Computing and Security from the University of Malaya, which is ranked 60th globally in the QS World University Rankings. Prof. Khan has a prolific academic and research portfolio spanning nearly two decades. He has held several pivotal positions, including Postgraduate Program Coordinator at Sohar University, Oman; Founding Director of Pakistan’s National Cybercrime Forensics Lab; Head of the Air University Cybersecurity Center, Pakistan; Chair of the Research Committee at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia; and IEEE Conferences Chair for the Islamabad Section, Pakistan. His career reflects a strong commitment to advancing research and education in cybersecurity, mobile cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and ad hoc networks.

Prof. Khan has developed multiple academic degree programs, published research articles in reputable journals and conference proceedings, and edited or co-authored several books. Some of his publications have been recognized among the most popular articles by the IEEE Communications Society, while others have been ranked among the top 1% of highly cited papers in the field of computer science. He has also been listed among the world’s top 2% of scientists multiple times in rankings compiled using Stanford University data.

Prof. Khan currently serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including Springer’s Cluster Computing, IEEE Communications Magazine, and Elsevier’s Journal of Network and Computer Applications. He also serves as a Program Evaluator for Pakistan’s National Computing Education Accreditation Council and is a member of the AWS Educate program and the NVIDIA GPU Educators Program. In addition, he has served as a Steering Committee Member, Program Committee Chair, Track Chair, and Technical Program Committee Member for more than 85 international conferences.

Prof. Khan is a Senior Member of both the ACM and IEEE. He has been invited to participate as a subject-matter expert in numerous forums addressing emerging technological developments and has delivered keynote speeches at international conferences and universities. He has also led research groups at several universities and served as a domain expert for international research funding bodies.

Prof. Khan has received numerous awards in recognition of his academic and research achievements, including the Ajman University Long-Term Research Award, the VisionICT Best Project Award, the IEEE International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology Best Project Award, the SPECTS Best Paper Award, the Technomoot Best Research Poster Award, the University of Malaya Graduate-on-Time Award, and multiple COMSATS University Research Productivity Awards.
